Stacy Peterson Body – Crime scene photos of possibly the body of Stacy Peterson along the Des Plaines riverbank near a blue plastic barrel just like the one Drew Peterson and stepbrother Tom Morphey removed from the house the day Stacy disappeared.

Illinois State Police refuse to say if its Stacy Peterson body that was found by a cleanup crew working on the riverbank near Channahon, Illinois, but they have notified Stacy’s relatives of the find.

“They’re unidentified human remains,” said State Police Master Sgt. Tom Burek, after the small decomposed female body was found on the riverbank clad only in underwear.

Channahon resident Michelle Williams told reporters that she notified local police about a blue barrel she saw on the riverbank three days before the remains washed up.

A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy today to determine the cause of death, but further forensic tests likely will be necessary to determine the identity of the body.
“We’re just being patient right now. We’re waiting,” said Pam Bosco, a spokeswoman for relatives of Stacy Peterson, 23, who vanished Oct. 28, 2007.

Drew Peterson, now in jail on murder charges in the death of his third wife, claimed fourth wife Stacy Peterson abandoned her two young children and ran away from home, taking only a bikini and $10,000 in cash.
Peterson’s stepbrother Tom Morphey told police that the blue plastic barrel he helped Peterson move the day Stacy disappeared felt warm and weighed about 120 pounds.

A month before she died, Stacy Peterson had confided to her pastor, Neil Schori, that her husband had told her he killed Kathleen Savio, according to an interview Schori gave Greta Van Susteren of Fox News in December 2007.
And that’s the latest on what could be the long sought Stacy Peterson body.

Ever since all this took place I remeber that the 355 extention project open shortly before Stacy’s disapearance. I for some reason believe she is buried under the expansion either road or pillar.

i kept thinking the same thing as Jan! I mean it would be possible for him to have hid the body there before the final cement/concrete pour. Every time we drive over it or near it Stacy comes to mind. However, do you think that the state would bother dishing out money to use equipment like sonar if it would work there to see if she is there or paying for excavations? Somehow i don’t think so. I think they are going to try and nail him with the 3rd wife’s case and be done with it. Poor Stacy.

Possible Body In Stacy Peterson Case
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Peterson, an ex-cop who is currently behind bars awaiting trial for the murder of his third wife, told an inmate yesterday how he killed Stacy Peterson, wife number 4.
Our sources say Peterson told the inmate he had an accomplice help him dispose of the body. The inmate then told authorities about his discussion with Peterson, which led them to the alleged accomplice.
We’re told the accomplice informed Will County Sheriff’s officials and prosecutors that the body was buried just outside Peoria, Illinois.
Will County Sheriff’s deputies and prosecutors took the alleged accomplice to Peoria Friday, and the accomplice led them to private hunting grounds.
The owner allowed authorities to enter his property and the accomplice then led them to the site where Stacy’s body was allegedly buried.
The accomplice told authorities the body was stuffed in a metal drum that had been buried underground.
On Friday afternoon, authorities brought police dogs onto the property and we’re told the dogs immediately took them to the place where the witness said the body was buried.
Authorities then put prongs in the soil and hit a mass below ground that could be the drum in question.
State Police are now guarding the property and authorities will begin digging tomorrow morning.
