Woman Kills Boyfriend With Poisoned Margarita – A former alcoholism counselor is accused of killing her boyfriend with a batch of antifreeze-laced margaritas.

State police arrested 51-year-old Cynthia Galens of Farmington on Wednesday and charged her with second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Thomas Stack, whom she met while counseling him for alcohol abuse at the Canandaigua, New York VA Medical Center.
On Oct. 2, troopers said, Galens poured antifreeze into a bucket of margarita mix and put it in the refrigerator, knowing her live-in boyfriend, Mr. Stack, would drink it.
The next day, troopers and ambulance crews responded to their home after Galens called 911 to report that Mr. Stack was convulsing and foaming at the mouth.
Stack was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where he died four days later.
An autopsy listed the cause of death as “complications of ethylene glycol intoxication,” referring to the active ingredient in automotive antifreeze.
Troopers say that on a recent trip to Florida, Galens told a friend that she poisoned Mr. Stack. That friend then notified police in Clearwater, Fla., who passed on the information to local investigators.
“When we got into it, it was disturbing how many people she told,” said Scott Crosier, captain of the Criminal Investigations Bureau at State Police Troop E.
Crosier said he is not sure why she told so many people about her alleged actions.
“I think she was reaching out to people for help because she was afraid or maybe she wanted to clear her conscience,” he said.
Cynthia Galens is being held without bail in the Monroe County jail on a murder charge.
