Windshield Cowboy - the phrase will be forever associated with George Bush after former Mexican President Vincente Fox called him a windshield cowboy in his new autobiography.

Seems Vincente Fox wasn’t George Bush’s biggest fan - besides calling him a windshield cowboy, he also said, “He is quite simply the cockiest guy I have ever met in my life.”

Fox, who often wore a trademark cowboy hat, was unimpressed when Bush turned down his offer to ride his favorite horse, a big palomino, during a visit to Fox’s Guanajuato ranch in February, 2001. Mr Fox, who left office in December, recalled Mr Bush “backing away” from the animal.

”A horse lover can always tell when others don’t share our passion,” he said. “Even now, George will be the first to admit that he’s a “windshield cowboy”, more comfortable driving his pickup truck around Crawford than he is on the back of a horse,” Fox said.

Vincente Fox also had a few more choice remarks about Bush in his new autobiography, “Revolution of Hope”, saying Bush struts like he’s “carrying a watermelon under each arm.”

Fox has an entire chapter about how Bush lobbied him for Mexico’s vote as the U.N. Security Council debated a measure authorizing the invasion of Iraq. Fox says Bush was stubborn and high-handed as he tried to get Mexico to back the invasion.

“He wanted my support, I refused to commit it, and we hung up the phone,” Fox says of a March 12, 2003, conversation with Bush. Eventually, the United States withdrew the Security Council motion rather than see it voted down.
