Two confessions first off: I am a Christian who stumbled onto this subject while looking for other information on cheerleaders, and I am trying to see what about these photographs gives the University of Louisville the right to expel her or the media to make it such a big deal. Now onto what I think.
First, those photographs are a thousand times more tasteful than what is usually found on the internet, and I think the lack of “money shot” content (if that is the right word, not certain if I remember right) is something that should be kept in mind. Second, I hope that the person who posted them, as I understand in all versions of the story I have heard and read it was done without her knowledge, gets similar if not worse penalties.
If that is not the case (the second thing), then U. of L. has worse problems than the pictures. The lack of accountability levied to some male college students because of certain “talents and abilities” (and I think I can say that with complete confidence that is the case, if so…) is the real issue. If the guy is not expelled and banned from sports activities and rewards, then what is that really saying.
Finally, to Becca herself, if she ever sees this. God thinks you are beautiful, and showing it is not something he would penalize you for. Yes, you did pose and have the pictures taken, but like Vanessa Williams the ex-Miss America, you will be vindicated. Matt. 18:10-14 tells us that it is not about the showy things we display our regrets, but in the little things. It is not your body that you should feel ashamed of, it is in trusting someone unworthy of you, your beauty, and your trust.
