Lead has been scientifically proven to be a poison to the human body. Common health problems include brain damage, retardation, emotional problems, and behavioral problems. Children and pregnant or nursing woman are especially at high risk from lead exposure.

Lipstick Recall Petition Needed!
The Food and Drug Adminstration has been made aware of concerns about lead in lipstick many times in the past, but has refused to investigate.
“Many of the reports have been urban legends,” said FDA spokesperson Stephanie Kwisnek. She added the agency has no plans to take action in response to the latest report from the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics.
Campaign For Safe Cosmetics found in extensive laboratory testing that 61% of all lipstick contained measurable amounts of lead. Not only that, but several designer brands like L’Oreal, Cover Girl, Maybelline, and Dior had lipstick lead levels well above what is considered “safe” by the FDA for human consumption in candy.

Given that teenage girls use lots of lipstick and that lead exposure is especially harmful to developing reproductive organs, the FDA’s lack of concern is alarming to scientists and consumers alike.
And that’s the latest news on the growing chorus of voices demanding action from the FDA with a lipstick recall petition.
