Randi Rhodes Mugged – Air America talk radio host Randi Rhodes mugged in violent attack Sunday evening, losing several teeth when viciously attacked in a suspicious mugging.
What was odd about Randi Rhodes mugged is that she was wearing a jogging suit, had no jewelry or watch, and carried no purse. So, why was Randi Rhodes attacked?
Was it a random hate crime, a mugging gone awry, or a brutal beating ordered by someone nursing a grudge against a popular liberal talk show host?

Randi Rhodes was mugged on Sunday night on 39th Street and Park Ave, nearby her Manhattan apartment, while she was walking her dog Simon.
According to Air America Radio late night host Jon Elliott, Rhodes was beaten up pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week. At of late Monday night we have not able to locate any press accounts of the attack and nothing has been posted on the AAR website.
Several liberal blogs, including the Randi Rhodes Message Board and Democratic Underground have logged numerous posts on the Rhodes mugging with most of the posters expressing concern about the condition of the popular lib talker.
Morning talk host, Lionel filled in for Rhodes on Monday, but did not say anything about why she wasn’t on hand to do her show. The Randi Rhodes board reports that Sam Seder, who does a Sunday afternoon show for AAR, will be filling on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Elliott was extremely agitated when he reported on the incident. He opened his show by saying “it is with sadness that tonight I inform you that my Air America colleague Randi Rhodes was assaulted last night while walking her dog near her New York City home.”
Pointing out that Rhodes was wearing a jogging suit and displayed no purse or jewelry, Elliott speculated that “this does not appear to me to be a standard grab the money and run mugging.”
“Is this an attempt by the right wing hate machine to silence one of our own,” he asked. “Are we threatening them. Are they afraid that we’re winning. Are they trying to silence intimidate us.”

It is a suspicious act that smells of typical right wing reprisal. When conducting a war of wits with an unarmed enemy they will revert to that which is their only weapon. BRUTE FORCE.
Perhaps Randi will get a larger dog that is capable of protecting her. My most sincere prayers and best wishes go out to Randi who continues to show great bravery in the face of pure evil. Like the bullet holes in Thom Hartmans car, this is evidence that the right wing noise machine is seeking to silence the voices of truth that are spreading across Americas air waves. Suppression and intimidation are no strangers to those who fight for liberty and truth. Be the battles fought in the court rooms such as Randis victory over CACI or broadcasting the truth about the current criminal activities of the present illegal administration. The report of her being mugged has been denied by both her lawyer and the NYPD. Looks like she fell on her face after tripping or something. Hope she wasn’t high.

Progressive Host Ed Schultz was also verbally accosted at a pub a few months ago by a right-wing fundraiser, after which Schultz and his wife left the premesis. The accoster called Schult’z wife a “f___ing c___” then fabricated a news story about how Schultz physically retaliated, which Schultz claims is completely untrue. If this story of Schultz’s attack is true, why is there not a lawsuit filed by someone so politically sly as a right-wing fundraiser? While there is no proof or evidence as of yet, and I don’t condone Air America’s public comments suggesting a right-wing operation organizing Randi Rhodes’s attack, it does make one stop and think… especially since she had no purse, jewelry or anything else of value on her person.

Seems that I heard that before by your new hero Hillary when she mentioned something about her husband being victimized by a ” vast right wing conspiracy”. Too bad she was incapable the as now of documenting any of her assertions. But with liberals, feelings always trump reality.

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.
Rhodes’ lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she’s not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a “hate crime.”
Rhodes started with the Air America when it launched in 2004. Her show airs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
The network released a statement that said Rhodes “experienced an unfortunate incident.”
“The reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded,” the statement read by a receptionist at the network’s New York offices said. “Ms. Rhodes is looking forward to being back on the air on Thursday.”

I seem to recall a New York TV talk show lunatic named Morton Downey Jr. claiming he was beat up by right wing neo-Nazis in a public restroom. Only problem was that the swastika “they” had drawn on his face was drawn in reverse, meaning he drew it on himself in the mirror. Police quickly deduced he had actually beaten himself up for the publicity. That was the end of Morton Downey Jr.
