Elana Glatt, pictured below, formerly Elana Elbogen, has sued her wedding florist for $400,000 for “egregriously” failing to match the color scheme Elana Glatt had requested for her floral arrangements.

Never piss off a bride like Elana Glatt, who’s also a Jewish lawyer, because she’ll blow things way out of proportion and seek revenge even when it means becoming the laughingstock of New York’s legal profession.
Here’s the skinny on what happened to piss off Elana (who looks like she could chew nails and enjoy it): Horror of horrors, the florist substituted pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green hydrangeas she had specified for 22 centerpieces.
The florist, Stamos Arakas, owns Posy Floral Design at 145 East 72nd Street, pictured below.

According to the New York Post:
Not only was the color wrong, Ms. Glatt said in the lawsuit, filed on Friday in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, but the hydrangeas were wilted and brown, and arranged in dusty vases without enough water.
Their pastel colors clashed with the linens, favor boxes, wedding cake and décor at Cipriani 42nd Street, the luxurious restaurant where she and her husband, David Glatt, held their reception, Ms. Elana Glatt said.
“The use of predominantly pastel centerpieces had a significant impact on the look of the room and was entirely inconsistent with the vision the plaintiffs had bargained for,” Ms. Glatt, a lawyer who practices under the name Elana Elbogen, said in the lawsuit, which she filed on behalf of herself, her husband and her mother-in-law, Tobi Glatt, who paid for the flowers.
Elana Glatt said they had reluctantly paid for the flowers in advance, with a cashier’s check for $27,435.14. She accused the florist of a “bait and switch” scheme, and asked for more than $400,000 in restitution and damages for, among other things, “unjust enrichment” by the florist.
In a litany of “distressing and embarrassing” offenses, the lawsuit says the florist substituted cheaper orchids than promised in the bridal bouquet and provided the equivalent of $5 roses from a street vendor, but charged $55 to $65 for those arrangements.
Elana Glatt yesterday said, “It was a lovely wedding,” except for the flowers.
Mr. Arakas, said yesterday that he had many satisfied customers. He said that he provided the flowers for Ms. Glatt’s sister’s wedding the year before, and that he did not ask Ms. Glatt to sign a contract because he trusted her.
He said that before filing the lawsuit, Ms. Glatt sent him a series of e-mail messages demanding a $4,000 refund. He said he and his wife ignored the e-mail messages because “we thought they were so insulting they didn’t dignify a response” and because it “felt like extortion.”
“My father used to tell me, ‘Don’t deal with lawyers,’” Mr. Arakas said. “Maybe he was right, God bless his soul.”
Will Elana Glatt sue the rabbi for malpractice when her husband divorces her? This whole wedding flowers lawsuit reeks of vengeance, spite, and immature behavior. And probably a little bit of greed too…
Soon her name will be synonymous with gold-digging lawsuits and female lawyer jokes. No word on whether she deemed her new husband’s honeymoon performance “egregrious” or not…
And that’s about it for the news on bridezilla lawyer Elana Glatt.

Crazy Woman. That’s how happy she must be for marrying the man. She’s trying to make someone else pay for her mistake of choosing wrong. She’s ridiculous. I mean I know all women dream of a fairtale wedding and we all want it to be just right but come on. If the flowers were really that bad just claim the refund for the price you paid and not nearly 15times what was paid. She is really a gold digger. Like i said she’s trying to make someone else pay for her mistake and i don’t see that marriage lasting long or being a happy one if it last at all. I wonder if her husband is just like her or if he’s some poor sucker that is lamenting himself because just realized the monster he married.

I think this bride is being ridiculous. Sure she had a vision, but as a lawyer, she should even know life isn’t perfect. I’m sure the florist did their best. She should get over it & stop trying to make her money back that she spent on the wedding. $400K? Give me a break.

It is extremely disturbing to me that not one person actually knows this individual yet somehow thousands of people feel qualified to attack and excoriate her publicly, and what is most disconcerting is the extent to which I feel your judgment reeks of sexism and anti-Semitism. You all read four paragraphs from a media source and determined this woman’s entire life story. You looked at her name- she’s Jewish, so you stereotyped her because of that. She is a woman, so you called her a gold digger, unaware of whether or not her husband approved or supported her suit.. The media and the public has twisted and fashioned this story so that it fits into our classification system of judgment and stereotyping.
No one knows the whole story here, so I am uncertain as to why you all feel you do. Does anyone know what the whole suit entailed? Perhaps she was advised by fellow lawyers to seek a certain amount in damages. And what else was in that complaint? Maybe she paid for items that she did not receive. Maybe they promised her a certain amount of flowers that they did not deliver. Or are people so simple minded that they actually believe it was just about flowers that were the wrong color? In fact, why didn’t Posy Flowers contact her after the wedding when she emailed and called them four times to get a partial refund?
The reason why you have filled in the blanks is simple and more disturbing than a lawsuit that, unfortunate or not, is not uncommon in today’s litigious society. You are all judging an individual on limited information, based on her occupation, gender, and religion. She should be ashamed of herself? You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hey Sam Mason:
Anyone who spends THAT much on flowers is going to get hated upon, plain and simple. That type of exorbitant display of ostentatiousness does nothing to make the average person feel sorry for the plaintiff in cases like this.
If it happens to be that she’s Jewish, female, and a lawyer, well, it’s the internet, and people are going to show their biases.
I’d knock her simply for the lawyer part – you know as well as anyone that the legal system is constantly one-upping itself on stupid litigation.
October 17th, 2007 at 10:23 am
It seems a little abstract (not to call it completely and absolutely absurd) that she is suing the florist for $400,000 when the actual value of the flowers was $27,435.14 … regardless of her background, profession, whether the florist got the color wrong or forgot to deliver items, it just reeks of greed and single mindedness – no need to fill in any blanks there, it is as simple as that
October 17th, 2007 at 11:23 am
“the hydrangeas were wilted and brown”
I’m guessing that the “wilted” is what happens when you ask for flowers with brown/rust/antique tips.
She got exactly what she wanted, but overheard someone mention the “wilted” and “cheap” and took it to heart and to the law.
I really wish the legal profession would work itself out so that it approaches disagreements and misunderstanding with compassion, and understanding. If she was *that* upset… the proper settlement is “pay for the wholesale cost of the flowers” not 400 grand… I don’t care how valuable “your day” is… its not worth almost half a million, and if that is the focus of your special day — she is totally looking in the wrong direction… she should be looking in the direction of her family, and her husband… not her floral arrangements.
October 17th, 2007 at 11:49 am
Hey Sam Mason,
I see that you are knocking everyone for listening to the media and accusing us of being sexist and making poor judgement. How do you know that she actually called Posy Florists four times and that she emailed them…being a little hypocritical are we? Shame on you.
Plain and simple, she is a gold digging bitch and her husband must be the same…do not tell me that he did not see this attitude when they were busy picking out a $350.00 vase for their wedding registry.
chew on that Sam Mason

Your Kidding! Why not add that she is America as well – does that make me a racist?
October 18th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
Mentioning that she is jewish does make you a racist. It is clear as day. Her religion does not have anything to do with the story so why is it mentioned? Or why do you reckon’ it is mentioned for some other reason than trying to tell people that these are things only jews would do?
Let me demonstrate and be the racist here. The truth is that these kind of things are things only americans would do. This story has made headlines all over the world. “These crazy americans are sueing everything that moves” is the main message…
October 18th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
It’s not racist to say that she’s Jewish when it’s true.
It’s also relevant to her escalating her hissy fit over her wedding flowers into an “I’m gonna make you pay for ruining my wedding day” farce of a lawsuit because she’s displaying stereotypical behavior.
And Elana Glatt definitely fits the stereotype of a female Jewish lawyer out for vengeance…
October 18th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
How do you KNOW she’s Jewish, and what would it matter if she were?
October 18th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
I wonder what her husband thinks of this, oh, wait a minute,
she is the boss in this family…
October 19th, 2007 at 10:33 am
This was clear breach of contract. If she paid $27k for one type of flower, then got another, that’s breach. Plain and simple. As far as collecting $400k on a contract action – impossible. She can collect $27k unless there’s clear evidence of bad faith.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
She looks like a transvestite.
Maybe she needs the 400k for extensive surgery?
October 19th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
She and Roy ‘Pants Judge’ Pierson make me embarrassed to be a lawyer. I can’t afford to spend a fraction of what she spent on her flowers on my entire freaking wedding – and now she and her spoiled husband and mother-in-law want $400 grand?
I don’t care about her gender or religion. What I do care about is that she’s filed a lawsuit which is ridiculous at best and frivolous at worst, and that she has made the entire legal profession one again look like a ship of fools.
Disgusting and sickening. I’m thinking of joining a monastery after reading her complaint.

Personally, I think this girl is a spoilt little bitch, but… the person who thinks it reasonable to highlight that she’s a jewish lawyer is nothing but a total jealous peasant cunt who’s living a completely worthless life. If you were in front of me now, I’d spit on your hateful cunt face and piss on your brain. Yep — nice Jewish piss, all over your dumb cunt brain.
October 21st, 2007 at 1:49 pm
She doesn’t like the amount she was charged for what she received? That’s how ALL lawyers make people feel…if she doesn’t “win” a case for a client, can she be sued? I’m sure she will still expect her money. $27,000 for flowers? A lawsuit of $400,000 for $27,000 worth of flowers? She needs to have her HEAD examined… I guess this is just ANOTHER reason to NOT trust lawyers!
October 21st, 2007 at 2:44 pm
Nothing worse than a jewish lawyer. They think they are better than all others and the world owes them great wealth. Flush them down the toilet !!!!
October 22nd, 2007 at 4:17 pm
I used to be a florist…I wonder why her florist would agree to a contract that fixed the color of the flowers. That is if they really agreed to it… I usually work with contrast in colours for flowers. Pink can substitute maroon. It could still look good.

first of all we all cry have mercy on the poor florist suing a ridiculous amount of money, doesnt she have a heart?but…we should ask ourselves if we americans happened to be in a situation like this one and there was a possibility to sue the other party for whatever amount even a retarted unthinkable amount that doesnt make sence would we NOT do it? If you can make money out of someonelses expence and the system allowes it do we give a fuck?unfortunetly for most people not.so who are you all to judge, im suuuuure you wouldnt have tried to get something out of the florist.Thats America deal with it.life isnt fair!!!

The bottom line is there are bigger and more important things going on in the world then these girls damn flowers….hmmm a WAR!!! Our fellow Americans dying everyday and you all sit here bashing her, her husband, each other….you all need to get a life and try doing something good for the world!!! Volunteer somewhere!!! You just might feel good!!!!
December 6th, 2008 at 10:38 am
I dont understand why you guys rant so much about this. I am a wedding planner and if one of my clients feels betrayed because i failed to do things according to the contract i would give them their money back. As well as my florists, if they charge me almost $30k for flowers and they are hateful, brown and dying heck i would ask for my money back or otherwise i would sue them.
Of course the most important thing is to get married, but don’t forget this is business and you are paying for a service you are entitled to get. So if you go to Macdonalds and you get a rotten piece you would not sue them because “the important part was to go out and eat” ??? GEEZ!
