Oprah Thyroid News – On today’s show, the 53-year old superstar revealed the latest Oprah thyroid illness details to her rapt audience, disclosing that hypothyroidism has been causing her to gain weight and feel sluggish these past six months.

Basically, for Oprah thyroid problems have a link to menopause and she took the entire month of July off to rest and restore balance to her busy lifestyle.

On her show, Oprah’s illness – and the related weight gain pictured above – was the main topic. She addressed hypothyroidism with Dr. Christiane Northrup who espoused rest, good diet, and listening to your body.

After her thyroid problem was diagnosed, Oprah says she turned to a book she keeps next to her bed—Dr. Christiane Northrup’s “The Wisdom of Menopause”.
“I pulled out that book and realized that I was not alone. That 25 percent of perimenopausal and menopausal women experience some kind of issue with their thyroid at some time and most women don’t know that that’s what it is.”
That’s why Oprah says she decided to share her story in the October 2007 issue of O, the Oprah Magazine.

I was sick for years and went to several doctors. It took me passing out and a weekend in the hospital to find out that I was very sick with hypothroidrism. It had been so long, that I ended up having to have surgery. They told me that I would have died within 3months because my was so high and my pulse was running rapid.

Need to mention armour thyroid and welll as having the medical profession open their eyes to this problem most of us have– they do not take the correct tests- and assume everyone in a certain range is normal–we are not robots or clones- we are individuals- what may be normal to one and not normal to another- finding out all the info can lead to a better life and may even ward off othere illnesses if this is regulated- it affects the whole body and they are simply ignoring this face—what will it take to wake them all up???
