Chain Saw Guy Chases College Kids – South Carolina police said a man with a chain saw chased two college students who were playing Frisbee golf.
Investigators said the Clemson University students saw the man crouched over the machine at the disc golf course near Walhalla, SC on Friday, when he suddenly cranked up the chain saw and ran after them.
Police said 37-year-old Jerry Lee Roach was charged with first-degree assault in the chain saw attack.
Even weirder, Roach was out on bail from an aggravated assault and battery charge for a May chain saw attack on an Oconee County sheriff’s deputy.
Walhalla Police Chief Tim Chastain said his office added a charge of intimidating a court official to the charges Jerry Lee Roach already faces after it was reported Monday that Roach had threatened Walhalla city Judge Scott Sprouse.
“That’s a 10-year felony,” Chastain said.
Roach, 37, of 231 Country Circle Drive, Westminster, was arrested Friday afternoon. He is accused of attacking two Clemson University students playing disk golf at the course near Walhalla’s Sertoma Field recreation area about 5 p.m. Friday.
“They were playing and saw a man crouched over a chainsaw like he was working on it and then he cranked it up and came at them,” Chastain said.
Roach is being held in the Oconee County jail.

Does anyone here know where a good place is to get some good safety gear for using a chainsaw? I just got a new saw and am cutting wood for my new stove. I really could use a good pair of gloves and glasses. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!
