Clearly Malibu Ken is not really from Malibu, or he has not lived there long, or he stays at his “buddies” house and thinks he’s a local. Real locals in Malibu don’t exude this sort of bigotry.

Attention all riff-raff in Malibu,

Don’t waste your time in Malibu. Come to Venice instead. Here, the riff-raff rule. We don’t have LA A**holes. We have beach babes, lots of pot, and various other mind-altering drugs that can’t hurt your chances of getting laid. Our beach is wide-open to the public, and as a result, our beaches are much nicer than the ones in Malibu. In Malibu, the beach is boring. Sure, you got a few good surf breaks, but you don’t have to dodge needles while walking on the beach. You don’t have to steer away from floating beer bottles while hangin’ ten. The challenge is all gone in Malibu. Who wants that?

I was in Malibu during the recent fire.I was very surprised at the lack of actual news that the people had.I was watching on channel 9,and could figure out where the fire was and what direction it was going.Anyone depending on the local cable was out of luck,and a lot of folks couldn’t get the internet.There could have been a lot more communication from the city officials.Even right here,people are more concerned with Malibu Ken than answering the question about Coral Canyon.

I think that Malibu Ken is serious in his comments. The problem is that he thinks that when you buy a home in Malibu that you are buying some sort of ownership to a “public beach”. He is assuming that everyone wanting to use the beach is there to watch celebs. I can’t think of anything more boring.
He is saying that rif-rafs are low to middle income people….he seems to think that class has something to do with income….problem is…you can’t change crass to class with money……Malibu Ken is living proof!

Although I’m also surprised that Malibu Ken is being taken seriously, I suppose it’s a good sign that people get upset with his (purported) views. I have to wonder, though, whether the same people don’t happily put up with the actual elitism rampant in Los Angeles. Somehow extreme narcissism (or in the case of Britney, borderline personality behavior) has become socially acceptable when it comes from a real live celebrity or fabulously wealthy people. The world rewards bad behavior, which is undoubtedly why it’s rampant. Anybody with a two-year-old knows that if you indulge it, it will only get worse.

Malibu Ken’s comments are hilarious! Those who fail to get his sarcasm are a testament to the US declining educational system.

Many Malibu beachfront residents have worked for years to deny the public access to public beaches. Buy a home abutting public property, and then whine that the public actually tries to use it. See http://www.californiacoastaltrail.info/cms/pages/trail/price.html

Oh well, at least they have advanced from threatening “trespassers” with physical violence themselves (as I was threatened in 1981) to hiring “security guards” to do it for them.

Malibu Ken,

I totally sympathize with you. The damn riff-raff are a constant pain out here in our island sanctuary. We pay millions of dollars for our beautiful ocean views, and now they have the gall to try and install ugly windmill turbines in Nantucket Sound to generate “clean energy.” Well we’re not about to let that happen and we’re all letting our elected officials know that their campaign funds will be drying up real soon if they even think about OKing that project. If we need more energy in Massachusetts we should build an oil or coal plant in someplace where our views won’t be ruined, — like Quincy or Medford. Our next goal out here on the islands is to ban lookie-lou middle class tourists altogether by requiring a photo ID check to make sure only residents and approved servants/workers can travel here on the ferry. Believe me, they have this kind of system perfected in Saudi Arabia, and we can do it here too.

Anyone know the status of the area just northwest of Pepperdine in the Coral canyon Road area. My inlaws live there and we cant tell if the fire has reached the area. They left yesterday so they are safe.

As you may well know, we have been making it harder and harder for those people to get on our beaches for many years.
After all we pay high prices for security to keep people from planting their Kmart towels on our sand and making themselves comfortable.
How else can we enjoy our privacy away from the celebrity hounds.
This fire is opening gaps in our mansion fortress!

Wow, what a self absorbed asshole this Malibu Ken is! I lived in LA and worked in the industry for cose to 5 years and it is people and attitudes like HIM, which made me want to leave!! Souless and it’s all about “me, me me”! I am very sad for this man that he even HAS thoughts of this nature and let’s all pray or send him thoughtsand/or a higher power that he can have a wake up call of some sort to get these kind of Bigoted thoughts out of his head and any other Malibu people that think like that. You know, there are other people and life outside of your precious Malibu. I am surprised that he even feels this way…as i always felt and experienced Malibu as such a nice place “away” from the rat race where people can feel calm, private and themselves…instead of angry, racist and a total pig. Oh well, i guess there are sad people in the world …

I grew up in Malibu, but now I live in Missoula, Montana. Montanans are always complaining about all of the “out of staters”! All the nasty people moving up here could be from anywhere, but the Montana natives all say “those damn Californians!” It’s comments like the “riff raff” one above that make me soooo glad I DO NOT live in California any more!! Your horrible idea of morals makes other states HATE Californians!!!
I”ll pray for all my old friends & neighbors while you pray for your beaches…

One guy hit the nail on the head. He siad that the fire itself is not scary but the chaos and irratic people are! Living on rambla Pacifico myself, we had plenty of time to evacuate. 48 hours plus. Nevertheless, neighbours were running around like headless chickens. In the end we all had to leave our homes at the same time and leave it to the able firefighters. There is always two ways to deal with information. Neither effect the end result but it’s astounding to see people’s actions. More frightening than the fire. On that note, i hope our house is still standing…

Are you kidding me…? THAT is what you are worried about? “Riff-Raff” on your beach!?!? With all of the homes being destroyed, peoples lives in danger…you are worried about “low to middle income people” on your beautiful beaches!?!? I know…I lived in Malibu for four years! It is one of my favorite places in the world…but that is completely insane, one of the most ignorant, inane, and soul-less comments I have ever heard…
Maybe you should spend a little more time worrying about your friend’s (if you have any) and neighbor’s well being and safety than your own class driven ideas about keeping the “riff raff” off of your beach. It is ideas and class conciousness like yours that are the absolute epitomy of the disgusting dehuminization that can accompany the accumulation of too much wealth. It is so depressing that I almost despair when I learn that someone can be so detached from the suffering of their fellow human beings as to first address the need for “fences” around the DESTROYED DREAMS of their fellow man. Shame on you and on a society which breeds such soul less, selfish, and inhumane participants. Shame.

My biggest concern in this fire is that as the beachfront homes burn, big open gaps will be left between them allowing full beach access to the rif-raf (low to middle income people).
We have done our best to keep these lower class people out, and now we are exposed. it’s a good thing we are in a mandatory evacuation mode now. The last thing we need is a bunch of dirty faced tourist lookie-loos on our beautiful beaches while the houses are empty.
To all Malibu beachfront residents who have lost homes, build fences as soon as you can, please!

the news coverage really is minimizing the tragedy unfolding before our eyes. I cannot believe our media is so lax with such an enormous story beyond belief. And we so need to truly know the path of these fires and also how to help our fellow citizens in need.

Why don’t you show at regular interviews a map of the of the fire areas, using a street map to be accurate.

With friends in the area, we’d surely appreciate having concrete maps rather than scary pictures.

it’s a pity America is burning, a lot of property and a number of lives lost to fire in the last couple of years. I say the last couple of years as we have been offering to assist with your wild fires in that period and surprisingly we have had only ONE reply to many attempted contacts to various US authorities.
Finally we are told, “IT ISN”T MADE IN AMERICA SO IT IS UNLIKELY THAT WE WILL USE IT”.
Sorry guys, we like our home in Australia.

Your recent tunnel fire!! Firefighters couldn’t approach the fire as temperatures were around 760degrees. I regularly walk into fires in excess of 1000 degrees celcius just to demonstrate Kilfire. An ordinary pair of overalls, a balaclava, gloves and sneakers with a hose down with Kilfire and I’m off to work IN THE FIRE.
