Comet Holmes is a popular search today as the obscure comet in the Constellation Perseus brightened a millionfold in one day, suddenly becoming visible to the naked eye.
Amateur and professional astronomers are gaga over the unusual event which may be a repeat of one that occurred 115 years ago, in November 1892, when the comet was first spotted by English amateur Edwin Holmes.
