Mike The Situation Sorrentino Loses Trademark – Some days a guy just can’t win as Jersey Shore abs guru Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino not only lost his bid to trademark “The Situation”, he also got beat to trademarking his own last name.
The Situation’s bid to trademark his nickname for an upcoming clothing line was denied by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) because they had already issued a similar trademark last year for the word “Situation” to a Memphis-based retailer.
Then came word that a New York garment manufacturer named Jing Lin had his trademark application approved for the word “Sorrentino” as a clothing line trademark.
To make matters worse, Jing Lin only applied for the “Sorrentino” trademark September 3, 2010, long after “The Situation” was talking about starting his clothing line of tshirts.
Jing Lin is claiming a first use at retail of June 1, 2010 which would be hard for “The Situation” to overturn.
Apparently the old adage of “You snooze, you lose” definitely applies to trademark applications.
And that’s the buzz at HitsUSA about Mike The Situation Sorrentino Loses Trademark.
