My son ate the pizza on Sunday night, 10/28/07, and again last night, 11/10/2007. We weren’t aware there was a recall and he was very ill on Monday and Tuesday. He missed school on both days. How do we get the refund if we’ve already trashed the box and the our waste pick up was on Monday?
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:34 pm
Yes I have the ones with the USDA mark but the dates are different. I’m still going to throw these out but I would like to get a refund too. I’m not taking any chances with this. Plus I was wondering about the Pepperoni Pizza Rolls too. Please respond asap.
Thank You

My son and I ate a Tostinos Three Meat Pizza on Sunday 10/28/07 for lunch around 1pm. By 10pm that night he was complaning about a stomach ache, shortly after he started with diarreah and vomiting which continued all day Monday. By Monday afternoon the same thing started to happen to me, not only did we both get sick from your product but i missed 2 days of work which for me is over $400 worth of pay for eating a $2.00 pizza that we both used to love. We bought your products every week and feel like there should be certain measures taken to make sure this never happens. I will be sending in all the remaining UPC codes that are in my freezer and will figure out what i am going to do from here, because it’s one thing for a grown adult to go thru pain because of someone else’s fault but for my 3 year old to have to go thru pain makes me very unsatisfied in this product now and in the future.

There are many companys that have had food recalled there are even restraunts that are high price ones with roaches crawling around. Law Suit if you have gotten sick and recovered get over it do you sue people for giving you the flu? What is wrong with you people Tostinos pizza’s are great and I grew up with them all my life and for only having one mishap in all these years? I understand the doctors bill and such I see why you are mad but life is too short so you got sick for a couple of days get your refund and if you have no medical insurance go with the law2 suit.

So Does E-coli go away or does it have to be treated with antibiotics?

Once again, this is what happens when you employ illegals to work in your factories. They cause this to happen because they’re incompetent, and don’t wash their filthy hands after they use the washroom.
I hope it was worth it to General Mills to use illegals instead of real employees. I shall be boycotting all General Mills products for now on.
November 4th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
I think people are too quick to try to find a reason to sue people. I have been buying these pizzas FOREVER and am just grateful that companies like this tell you when they have made a mistake… You lawsuit crazy people are going to make it so companies are afraid to admit mistake because of fear of being prosecuted and then where will you be sick and pucky with no one to blame and most likely dead because you won’t have honest companies sayin “hey if you have bought one of these and get sick it is our fault, sorry.” You people are nuts!
November 7th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
..and stop feeding them to your 3 yr olds.
November 7th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Personally, I am with Megan and glad to be notified with this recall. I will not be asking for a refund or lawsuit. It was a $2.00 pizza I take for a snack. I have thrown away wasted banana’s that cost me more. I have had tostino’s for years and years with no complaints (other than i wish they had more meat..hehe). I have been sick more with taco bell food than this.
November 8th, 2007 at 8:58 am
I do believe that one rumor may start others. These pizza’s normally would go 5 for $5. We look at it as a great price to carry our kids and ourselves over, until full lunch or dinners. (even far a great snack that doesn’t cost much). We have been eating these pizza’s now for years, are you truely going to remember years ago about a stomach ache you may have had after eating this pizza. Remember other events thatcaused the same thing, like when we were not allowed to eat hamburger meat, because of mad cows disease. (But we still go to fast food joints). haha. I think it’s a cheap joke. If you don’t like it, don’t eat it. I just ate one and I am just fine. Yummy!
November 8th, 2007 at 11:13 am
you pay $2.00 for them?? we pay 98 cents
and yes they are good and im sorry to the people that ate them and got sick. if you would have cooked your pizza for a long time you might not have gotten it. my mom and my boyfriend ate them right before the recall. she had 2 in the week and he had 4 in the week and neither of them got sick b/c they cooked it until it was brown. but w/e anyways… im sorry you got sick but a lawsuit? do people sue you if you make a mistake? honestly. just get your refund and be glad they even told you about it. and no i dont think it was illegals that caused the problem…get real. im sure you dont wash your hands 24/7 so just stop trying to blame them for something that you have no proof that they did. and oh i love them and when all this is over im sure ill be buying them again
November 9th, 2007 at 9:34 pm
I bought one of the recalls and im glad that they posted the recall am i asking for money back no its was a cheap pizza! Ive had them before and i love them
Im just thankfully they posted it!!!
Facts:
The time between exposure to E. coli bacteria and developing symptoms of infection (incubation period) ranges from 1 to 8 days but usually is 3 to 4 days. 2 The amount of bacteria required to cause infection is thought to be small. The bacteria remain in the bodies of children about 3 weeks (compared with 1 week for adults). As a result, children can spread the bacteria for a longer time through person-to-person contact.
so i don’t know what everyone got sick a couple hours after cause it takes a couple days for it to kick in. some what like the flu!
Treatment:
Treatment of E. coli infection generally consists of managing dehydration caused by diarrhea. Usually, the infection goes away on its own. If you develop a severe blood problem, such as anemia, you will receive fluids and, if necessary, have a blood transfusion. If you develop kidney problems, you may have wastes removed from your blood (dialysis).
Hope this helps

I want the pizza’s back im hungry and love those pizza’s.What else can i get for a buck for lunch thats good. They never made me sick.Put them back on the shelves!!!!
November 11th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Even if these pizza’s are good it still dosent make any sense for these meat companies to have this many recalls i mean i could understand if this were a underdeveloped 3rd world country but for godsake this is the united states the usda wasn’t made for nothing we have tough standards put into place just for this very reason. A big million $ lawsuit would fix this people do not have time to be in the hospital when they need to be at work making money to support their family. Just hearing about these recalls make my blood boil
November 11th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
I love this pizzas and so does my son. The fact that people would want to sue over a $1.00 pizza is amazing. That is part of the reason the country is so f*$ked up. People want to always put blame on otheres and want compensated no matter what, even if they didn’t get sick but the potential was there. When will these people grow up and realize that EVERYONE EVEN LARGE COMPANIES MAKE MISTAKES? Plus according to news reports…if you cook the pizzas to the proper temperature (NOT IN THE MICROWAVE) it will destroy the bacteria. Why do you think we now cook all ground meat to 160 degrees…IT KILLS THE E. COLI!!!
November 12th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
Yeah, it was those damn illegals. I don’t know how they have enough time to contaminate the pizza factories, ruin the value of the us dollar and also start a war based on false intelligence. Oh by the way do you have ANY evidence that it was in fact illegals, or is this another conspiracy that you believe in? Peace.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
Lawsuits are not ridiculous in cases where you have gotten sick for days or weeks . it makes me sick to my stomach when people say that you should not file a lawsuit just because you got food poisoning ( you know who you are) hmm lets see who wants to talk to their lawyer when their CHILD gets sick or almost dies so dont talk to me about a lawsuit not being neccessary because all these companies care about is profit. Yeah thats right Profit not you your mother or child so i think it is time for people to teach them a lesson so they can get their priorites straight Customers first then profit and people who stand by them are no better than these greedy coporate pigs.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Most times people let me down in the worst way. To everybody screaming about illegals shut the hell up. Your ignorance is showing. I agree with all the statements on buying Totinos Pizzas since friggin birth. They made a mistake ans sh!t happens. Throw in the trash if you are THAT paranoid and keep it moving. If you and to be mad be mad at the government and the fuqqed off system designed to help people who dont even need help. If you want to be realistic you’d virtually have to stop eating everything in the market to avoid the “possibility” of getting sick. Wax on produce, steroids in poultry. C’mon act your age not your shoe size. Boycotts and lawsuites get a grip. Totinos mass produces these products and sells them at a ridiculously low price for OUR benifit. To KEEP a little money in out wallets. Im 21 and already sad that this is the world I inherit… Shame on you.

November 19th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Well said “tired of this mess”. I ate a “bad” pizza but did not get sick because i read the directions and cooked the damn pizza to the proper temp. I will never stop eating party pizzas because they are an integral part of my life. only wendys dollar menue can throw a stick at a .98 cent party pizza but they still cant fill me up as much as tostinos. Thank you tostinos for recalling the pizzas voluntarely and not hiding under you bank accounts like other conpanies have. Eat on party pizza lovers!

The only thing a lawsuit will do will put money in the lawyers pocket. In class actions the “people” get a check for $5.00 each and the lawyers make millions and the company suffers for an honest mistake.
November 22nd, 2007 at 12:01 am
For one, let me say that I have been eating these pizzas for quiet a long time since they are cheap, easy to make, and very delicious(once you put extra sausage and Parmesan on it). I did not get sick from a pizza(yet, though it has been less then a week since I had one) but hearing about this recall has knocked the trust out of me..
For those of you saying that it is not a serious problem, think again… this is an extremely serious problem. This is not an isolated event people.. this has happened before, and it will sure as heck(trying to mind my words) happen again. Sure, we have improved our inspection program greatly but it is not enough! I want to be able to eat food without worrying whether I am going to get sick because of someones ignorance.
This whole incident just shows the problems with our food inspection program in this country. I believe we need to enforce stricter control over the food at all parts of the product assembly to make sure that my food is not contaminated and will not hurt any children who consume these products. Am I really asking to much?
As for the talk of lawsuit, I have no problem with it.. go ahead and sue them. They put out a product that has harmed people and caused damage to their lives. By all means, sue for the damages and teach that company to inspect their assembly/supplies(whatever process it was contaminated in) without relying on the government to do it for you. I for one, do not agree with most (mass)lawsuits because of the majority of fake claims that are included.. but if you were genuinely inconvenienced because of consumption of this product, then by all means. If not, do not do it… you are only hurting the people who ate the product and became sick.. not the company.
Our government can only do so much to prevent contaminated food… and they have put up ordinances to protect the American consumer but that is where the companies need to step up. The government can only hire so many people to check whether products are made in a clean way(just like the problem with imported toys.. they can only check so many containers with the resources and manpower that they are provided), and so the companies need to step up and ENFORCE those ordinances in order for their product to be trusted by our populace.
I for one, have lost my trust in this company(until they can prove to me that their food is thoroughly inspected at all parts of the assembly).. and you will be hard-pressed to find me eating anything made by them again.
Anyway, that is my opinion on the subject.. and you are welcome to your opinion, no matter what it may be(you have to love this country…).

my son has been eating these pizzas and was unaware of this. is it over?
December 18th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Some friends and I had a movie/pizza night and ate 5 of Tostino’s pizzas… Didn’t think anything of it; Didn’t know they were contaminated with E-coli. After a couple of days, we all got sick && noticed that it was the same group of people and we all felt the same way. One of my friends looked online and randomly showed me this. After reading about it, I wish I had never eaten those pizza’s! PEOPLE DIE FROM E-COLI!!! I am furious and outraged at the fact that I can’t enjoy a simple pizza now without having the fear of getting sick or even dying! I think I’m going to become a vegan. Much much safer. Well I think I’ve said enough. I will no longer purchase General Mills products for the sake of unsanitary conditions. You should check your food before putting it out in the first place, then maybe none of this would occur.! Ugh!
-Frustrated.
January 5th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
These pizzas are still on the shelves! I bought two on 12/27/07 at the Shoppers Grocery in VA. I prepared one thirty minutes ago and remembered that I should look online to make sure it was not contaminated. What do you know, I have an e-coli pizza. I use to love these pizzas but I must say I have to cut my ties. It’s ridiculous to have these pizzas still on store shelves after you recalled them almost two months ago.

Got news for you all. It’s now Jul 11, 2o08 and guess who got sick as a dog all night long after eating one of the recalled upcs’s that was not taken off the shelf? You got it. Believe me, it was not fun. They are still out there. My mother was the one who asked me what I had eaten the night before because it sounded like food poisioning. I had no idea, but when I googled the recall and saw it was one of the UPC codes recalled, mystery over. A $50.00 doctor appt and presription and I’ll live. No lawsuit required. Lets not go overboard folks. There are enough american’s out of jobs right now, lets not add to it with frivilous law suits.

Glad the rolls aren’t on the list of recalled (and therefore unsafe) products. I feel for the people that have gotten sick or are getting sick from the brand for their horrible mistake but at least they have admitted that they’ve made a mistake…I’m really thankful that the rolls I love so much are in the safe zone.

I wasn’t aware there was a recall until now. My 3 kids all were violently ill after eating Tostinos Pizza Rolls in Nov. 2008. I know it was the rolls because they all woke up at 3 am within 10 minutes of one another and were sick for 2 full days. My husband & I did not eat the pizza rolls and were not sick so another determination that it was the pizza rolls. We all ate the exact same meals prior to the pizza rolls. It was a new package too, unopened until this date in Nov. 2008. We have always had pizza rolls as a grocery item but after this incidence we just can’t bring ourselves to purchase or eat them. I was reminded after watching the X Games which is sponsored by Tostinos pizza rolls and thought I would google any information on any food poisoning issues and that is how I found this post. I hope no one else got sick and reported any incidences. I wish I would have called earlier. Any other cases regarding pizza rolls in 2008?
Thanks!

i would just like to say..im so tired of companys changing their products after its been that way for years..im not going to buy your pizzas anymore..my family has always bought the combination pizza with fine ground sausage..now they are in chunks…u companies should realize that human biengs are creatures of habit..and just so u know my entire family is boycotting you..

Hi I am a very very unhappy camper, I just purchased 4 of your pizzas becuase Im hungry and when I went to cook them in the oven I was appalled to see that there slighty bigger than a half dollar now. I dont buy your products so I can sample them I want to walk away from the table full from them. I mean come on they used to fill up my plate and it would be hard to cut them. The economy being the way it is is no excuse to shortchange your customers. You could atleast sell them at half price now since there half size. And im going to tell everyone I know that you’r brand is not worth buying anymore since all you sell are small sample size wanna be pizzas. I hope yall bring them back to there right size again soon because they used to be the best in my opinion.

I was making myself a pizza and after it was done i was about to eat it and there was blonde hair baked in the hair.
Nobody in my house has a strand of blonde hair.
and it wasnt like it was just on the top, it was baked underneath the toppings baked IN it.

i think it’s really funny when people bitch and yell at each other in message boards. i would encourage you all to get lives, but it’s more fun for me when i accidentally stumble onto something like this when i’m looking up the world record for pizza roll consumption.
