Scams like this one are legal, but you can complain to your cellphone service provider if the STOP code doesn’t work.

In that case, call your cellphone service provider’s customer service number to get the $9.99 monthly billing stopped.

So now how do I really stop the service that charges me 9.99 dollars per month? It says just to text “STOP” to its code 36058, but after I did texted it I immediately got a message saying that “you are not subscribed to any services on this shortcode.” Now what can I do? Is this kinda of scam even legal?

after falling for this one, a friend was plagued with notifications from their provider saying “you don’t have enough credit to receive a chargeable text”

the provider (vodafone NZ) say they can’t cancel the service until you’ve received a TXT from the site, and they can’t reverse the charges if you do

so … any tips for cancelling the service without receiving their expensive tips?
