Chris Evert & Greg Norman Engaged – Recently divorced tennis superstar Chris Evert and golfing legend Greg Norman got engaged on a flight to South Africa where Norman was competing in a seniors tournament.

The superstar couple became close while living near each other in Florida with both going through expensive divorces to be together, so the Chris Evert Greg Norman engaged news wasn’t totally unexpected by close friends.

Greg Norman reportedly paid $100 million to his ex-wife Laura in his divorce settlement three months ago. That legal battle was particularly acrimonious as his ex threatened to reveal copies of love letters from Norman to Evert as well as receipts for expensive gifts before both parties agreed to a confidential settlement.

Chris Evert’s divorce from former Olympic skier Andy Mill was finalized with a $7 million cash settlement to her ex last December amid allegations of marital infidelity involving her and neraby neighbor Greg Norman.

Evert, the winner of 18 grand slam singles titles, confirmed the engagement at a news conference to announce she would be building a tennis centre at the Pearl Valley Golf Estates where the South African Open golf tournament is being held.

Asked whether there were any marriage plans between her and Norman, Chris Evert, sporting a large diamond on her left ring finger, replied: “Well, it is an engagement ring. We were engaged on Sunday night coming over here, en route to South Africa. We don’t know when and where we’ll be married though.”

Evert, 53, jokingly asked Norman: “Why don’t you say something to them (the media)? Gee, you’re a big chicken!”
