Worlds Richest Woman – Zhang Yin, China’s “Queen Of Trash” is the richest woman in the world with a fortune estimated at $31 billion built solely by recycling the worlds paper trash into corrugated cardboard for boxes.

Worlds richest woman is Zhang Yin of China

Zhang Yin vaulted to the top of the list as the worlds richest woman by starting two companies –  America Chung Nam, based in Los Angeles, which was one of the first companies to sell scrap paper to China, and Nine Dragons Paper, based in Dongguan outside Hong Kong, which processes recycled waste paper into corrugated cardboard boxes for China’s booming export business.

The Zhang family holds 72 percent of the stock in Nine Dragons Paper and it’s skyrocketing stock price is the major reason why Zhang Yin leaped from being China’s richest woman in 2006 to being the richest woman in the world at the end of 2007.

So, how did she do it?

America Chung Nam, which she and her second husband, Taiwan-born  Liu Ming Chung, founded in 1991 quickly made deals with American scrap yards and began shipping huge containers of paper back to China.

The demand for the scrap paper grew so fast that in 1995, Zhang (who also goes by her Hong Kong name, Cheung Yan) returned to China to found Nine Dragons, opening her first paper making facility in Dongguan, a major manufacturing hub in the bustling Pearl River Delta region near Hong Kong. Her husband Liu now is the chief executive and Zhang Yin is the chairwoman.

A decade later, the company has 11 giant paper making machines, 5,300 employees, and a huge new facility under construction in the country’s other booming export hub, the Yangtze River Delta area near Shanghai.

Nine Dragons is now one of the fastest growing paper companies, and yet it says it cannot keep up with demand for container board, the material used to make boxes, because of the booming growth in the Chinese economy and exports.

Explosive growth coupled with huge demand and record profits has caused the Nine Dragons stock price to surge this year and, with no signs of an economic slowdown in Chinese exports, remain at stratospheric stock valuation levels, thus ensuring Zhang Yin will remain the richest woman in the world for the forseeable future.

And that’s the latest news on the worlds richest woman.
