Another possibility could involve the Holy Grail (sans Mary Magdalene), the Templars coming to America, and the Masons, and how all three of these influenced the founding fathers and the philosophy behind the Declaration of Independence. This was suggested by the documentary on the History Channel entitled “The Holy Grail In America.”

I think page 47 is all about Human evolution. Come to think of it, on the newspaper that the president gave to Ben writes “Evolution of Human Behavior” and this might lead to something. Family ancestors of Charles Darwin, known for the “Evolution Theory”, are FreeMasons, but not him. I think that’s the mystery that Ben and his team will unveil on NT3.

“Before coming to Derby in 1788, Dr. [Erasmus] Darwin had been made a Mason in the famous Time Immemorial Lodge of Cannongate Kilwinning, No. 2, of Scotland. Sir Francis Darwin, one of the Doctor’s sons, was made a Mason in Tyrian Lodge, No. 253, at Derby, in 1807 or 1808. His son Reginald was made a Mason in Tyrian Lodge in 1804. The name of Charles Darwin does not appear on the rolls of the Lodge but it is very possible that he, like Francis, was a Mason.”

Another interesting clues from the movie:
- XY 234786 (code for the President’s Secret Book) – “XY” is a gnome code for human. “XY” for man and it something to do with Evolution of Man.
- International location. Most of the proofs that man evolves from primates are located all over the world. This is somewhat the clues Ben and his team to gather.

Has anyone thought about time travel? I know this may sounds like Sci Fi (Back to the Future). When asked by the president about page 47 Ben replied “Life Altering Sir”. Now would time travel alter life? I think it so.

What about the premise of connecting the Anasazi indians to the freemasons and possibly connecting the pyramids to the great celestial beacons and each of these point to the lost location of Atlantis which of course leads Ben to discover that the Gates family are direct descendants of both cultures? Just my two cents worth!

why else call it NATIONAL treasure if it is not about the NATION united states of american!? does anyone get an education anymore in this world.
the plot will include the us capitol building, probably the stacks in the library of congress and monticello bc they have already done mount vernon and jefferson and madison used to have a secret code. they in the first movie hinted about the white house 2nd they r in the white house, 2nd they r outside the capitol building 3 they r in it. each one will progressively have more of the library of congress as it should since their are three of them and books are the key to knowledge. there were 1000 star wars movies so why not the same for national treasure. for you who say have it outside of the united states of america, how would star wars be if it was about war but conventional like the civil war ww1 and ww2…… exactly

I do believe what I wrote a few days ago about the NT3 being about another templer treasure. If they stray from the formula then the movie will inadvertently bomb. If they stick to the formula then the movie will be another success on nicholas cages long list of achievements. please let us know soon as to what it will be about

I love natioanl reasure. Oh and… The president asked ben to see what waas on page 47 becasue it was in hyraglifics or what e and he couldnt raed it, but ben could.
So i think, the president doesn’t know what it is because he cant rraed it.
That is why he asked ben to have a look. Ohh and national tresure is not fictional! and i thinkein should save mitch, and they become partenes. and i think all of the same actors should still be in it. INCLUDING DIANE KRUGER SHE IS THE BEST!!!!!!! ftw this is my fav movie! and i think the first one is better :):)

Life-altering is Mr Gates descriptio of page 47. This could be medical discoveries that causes a life style change, and also lots of new wealth. NT 1 & 2 were about USA history lets keep the USA as the central theme in NT3. NT1 was the Revolutionary War Era, NT2 was Civil War Era. So NT3 should be starting with an internal based war in the USA-how about a war with nature that releases cures and treasure. So after the gulf states were hit by Katrina- the biou’s gave up their hidden pirate treasure and lots of treaties and documents…medical cures for our most cruel diseases, new treaties found that prove USA owns most of central and south America. And the Gates family tree has
many of the pirates, doctors, voodoo shaman, politicians and
generally shady characters hiding there.

I believe that the third will have to be about the masons. The first two, which in my opinion were some of the best to come out of Disney, were about the masons and their treasures. So, lets think about this and ask all of a sudden, why would they lead away from what has made them so popular and so much money at the box office? I don’t believe they will if they want the fans to keep seeing their movies. The facts and the intrigue about the masons are what keeps us so inthralled in these movies that we want to watch them again and again. Well, that and the fact that deep down we all want to secretly find a treasure. Who wouldn’t? So, I believe they will stick to the masons and finding treasures they left behind. I have faith that this will be what the third movie is about because when I watch the first and second over and over again I always feel like I am seeing it for the first time again, no matter how many times I have seen it. If they stick to their original theme then I have no doubt this will be a long running series. People love learning history in an interesting way and lets face it they have made us want to learn it. Lets just hope they come up with their writers and have a good story for us to see.

I Believe that that Atlantis is a big Possibility. though i also believe that there might be some type of advanced technology in this one to be found like a Time Machine from the Future or H.G. Wells Time Machine. or maybe a buried spaceship that was just a myth.

I agree with one of the submits, (can’t for the life of me find it again) : the treasure hunt sould remain national, hence the name, national treasure, but intertwine with some other country, such as the much debated idea on Egypt, like Mr. Cage suggested. It would be fitting, since the dollar bill we all know has a pyrymid like structure. Could it be another clue, Mr. Gates? Some sort of hidden message, a mark on a long forgotton mystery, on the very dollar bill many of us have within reach this very moment? After all, in the first movie cleverly used a clue from the hundred dollar bill. Way to go on that daylight savings thing, Riley! (speaking of the one dollar bill, did you know that on the top right corner of the side with Washington there is a ‘bump’ in the flourishes, look up close, perhaps with a magnifying glass, because it is a very tiny owl drawn in! True story!) Anyway, I just combined other’s ideas, and I’m just a teen, but I think that is a movie I would pay to see! And while you’re paying, look for the owl!

the first two films were very well put together, i am very interested in the freemason’s and there secrets during the Civil War and post-civil war era. Both movies have been connected to the freemason’s in some way and i think this will continue, the question is what with next, the presidents book deminished certain sequels like area 51. Possible sequel ideas could be the lost city of atlantis, Hitlers Gold but i really dont know, waitin is the best option…

yeah i agree, atlantis!
except ben, his wife, reily, parents go on a holiday to greece. they are at a museum, whilst reading ancient inscriptions Ben discovers a map or coordinates leading to spain. they find some kind of monument and a riddle, signifying the bermuda triangle where a spanish ship went missing. the ship in my idea is one that was not highly advertised coz it was carrying sumthing valuable to the states on trade and went on a certain route to avoid pirates. THis leads them to the bermuda triangle where they find the rotten ship at the bottom, somehow in the centre of it. since the triangle is known to be not very well known, they soon get lost while scoober diving back which prompts them to seek refuge in a under water cave. they follow the cave and find that there is a rather large field of grass surrounded by old walls and temples.
{the theory of journey to the centre of the earth) and city of gold. they soon find themselves faced with yet another mystery that ranges bac thousands ofyears and with just 48 hours until the underworld city collapses they must solve the clue and somehow get out!
i kno its far fetched but hey who cares lol

perhaps page 47 reveals the the lost treasure of atlantis which lost quite a long ago but may be it would refer to the maya calender which reveals that world would end in last of the year 2012 which is quite uncertain but may ben would try to solve the mystery behind the unknowing shapes that hav been created in the paddy field but on the whole it would be quite instresting to watch the third part of national treasure

My friends and I have been brainstorming this one since NT2’s release. Of all our “what if” scenarios, I think we found one that sounded pretty good.
What if page 47 revealed details of a vast collection of european pirate treasures hidden somewhere inside the continental US? According to history a british sea captain named Cpt. James Kidd hunted down and destroyed several pirate ships in the Carribean and Spanish Main. Kidd himself was a master mason and though he put an end to piracy in the Americas, no pirate treasure was ever recovered from his campeigns. What if Kidd hid the treasure from his own government?
We thought it would be cool if Gates and his team followed clues to find this treasure. The synopsis would include using the Bermuda Triangle as a map, Arlington Cemetary as a mysterious tomb, and even throwing in the USS Constitution “Old Ironsides” as a possible key to the biggest clue. Gates would have to steal the ship, elude the navies of the Atlantic, follow the clues, and recover the treasure (mostly crown jewels) before the world blames the US for piracy.
Too bad none of us are Hollywood writers. This would be a cool movie.

I am also a National Treasure fan as well and also a huge fan of U.S History. I’ve got the first NT films and a huge copy of the Declaration of Independence hanging on my wall too. I would love to see Atlantis in National Treasure 3!
