Eve Carson – UNC student body president Eve Carson was killed Wednesday in a brutal early morning carjacking about a mile from where she lived off campus.

Chapel Hill Police Lt. Kevin Gunter said Eve Carson was shot multiple times, at least once in the head, but that police believe the shooting to be a random act at this point in their investigation.
Carson was believed to be on her way to an early morning jog in an exclusive neighborhood in downtown Chapel Hill, NC when she was shot four times at point blank range at approximately 5:00 am Wednesday morning.

Eve’s 2005 Toyota Highlander and purse were stolen in the brutal attack and police had appealed to the public yesterday for help identifying the young victim whose body was found dressed in jogging clothes with no identification.
Eve Carson was discovered lying in the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Hillcrest Circle after the Chapel Hill Police Department responded at about 5 a.m. to reports of gunshots in the exclusive residential area off East Franklin Street near the University of North Carolina campus.
The first call came from a neighbor on Davie Circle, who lived a street behind where the body was found. The caller reported that she heard three or four shots and a woman scream, police spokesman Lt. Kevin Gunter said. Police received two other 911 calls immediately after the first, but no witnesses to the actual shooting have been found.
“We have suffered a tragic loss today, and our community is in shocked grief,” Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy said in a statement. “Eve was a beautiful, caring person who exemplified the best and the brightest.”
Eve was a pre-med major from Athens, Georgia who won the UNC student body presidency with 60% of the vote in March, 2007, campaigning on a slogan of “Efficiency. Vision. Everyone.”
Carson was also a Morehead scholar, a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and was a pre-med major studying both political science and biology who was due to graduate with highest honors in six weeks time.
And that’s the sad news about the carjacking death of UNC student body president Eve Carson.

The Houston Astros hat that Eve Carson’s killer was wearing does have a gang affiliation. The “H” logo pays homage to Larry Hoover who was in various incarnations of the Black Gangster Disciples, which he founded. Throughout the 60’s Hoover created alliances and “nations” of gangs in the Chicago area. Lemaricus Davidson, the lead “accused” black slayer of Channon Christian and Chris Newsome was also a BGD– and we know what THAT means–the murder of Eve Carson could not POSSIBLY have been racially motivated–lol.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) – Police investigating the slaying of the University of North Carolina’s student body president may have a break in the case, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Investigators are talking to a person of interest in the death of 22-year-old Eve Carson, Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall told several media outlets.
WTVD reported that heavily armed police arrested a man at a home on Rosedale Avenue in Durham early Wednesday morning.
Shortly afterward Durham police handed the man over to Chapel Hill police, WTVD reported.
CNN affiliate WRAL described the detainee as a person of interest in Carson’s killing.
WTVD showed video of police dragging a man in handcuffs out of a house and placing him in a squad car, then taking him out of the car at another location.

One suspect has been charged and police are hunting for another in connection with the killing of University of North Carolina student Eve Carson, police said Wednesday.
Demario James Atwater, 21, was arrested early Wednesday on a charge of first-degree murder in Carson’s death, Chapel Hill police said.
A second suspect, Lawrence Alvin Lovett Jr., 17, is being sought in Carson’s death and he also faces a first-degree murder charge.
Police believe Lovett was the man seen in a photo trying to use Carson’s card at an ATM. He should be considered armed and dangerous, a police spokesman said.

Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran would not say which of the suspects shot and killed Eve Carson, 22, of Athens, Ga., who was found a week ago lying on a street about a mile from campus. The biology and political science major had been shot several times, including once in the right temple.

Demario James Atwater is believed to be the suspect captured in convenience store surveillance photos trying to use Carson’s bank card at an ATM inside.
Lawrence Alvin Lovette, Jr. is believed to be the driver of the vehicle caught on tape trying to use her bank card at a Chapel Hill bank’s drive-up ATM.
Police believe that in that photo, Atwater is partially visible crouching over Carson in the back seat.
After she gave up her PIN code, the two men drove her back to a neighborhood near campus, then shot her to death in the middle of the street.

In regards to police investigation on Demario crouching over Carson in the backseat– might explain where he’d
gotten the “Cut” from on his face. She was scratching
him in the process of crouching over her.

Condolences all around. What a terrible tragedy. Her family must miss her everyday. I do not think this was a random crime, however – the truth has yet to come out. Why were all the records sealed immediately after the crime – very unusual. Did the victim KNOW her attackers? THAT is the question no one dares to ask in this whole case. Maybe it is not allowed to be asked. UNC-CH has a reputation to hold up, and come HOHW, it’s going to be held up.

Doubtful she ever knew them at all. They lived in Durham about 8 miles from Chapel Hill and were cruising the neighborhoods around the UNC campus looking for somebody to rob at 4:00 a.m.
One of these guys also shot a Duke Ph D student from India in the face during a home invasion robbery the week before.
And of course, they were both on probation for other assaults and robberies, but somehow their probation officers lost track of them completely for six months until they started killing people for a few hundred bucks each.
