Jay-Z Live Nation Deal – Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has signed a $150 million dollar deal with Live Nation covering the next ten years of recording, touring, and publishing rights including an upfront payment of $25 million.

Jay-Z Live Nation deal announced for Roc Nation company

The Jay-Z Live Nation deal is similar to the ones Madonna and U2 signed with Live Nation a few months back. Jay-Z gets $10 million for each of his next three albums and another $25 million toward concert tours.

Jay-Z will also receive an additional $20 million for music publishing rights from those future releases and further payments from Live Nation for additional album releases within the ten-year contract period.

The biggest chunk of the Jay-Z Live Nation deal is $50 million to fund “Roc Nation”, Jay-Z’s new entertainment company where Jay-Z will perform similar talent development deals like he did at Def Jam Records for Universal Music Group.

Roc Nation includes his own record label, music publishing, entertainment ventures, talent development, other business projects. Jay-Z will be leaving Def Jam Records, but still owes them a final album under his old contract with Universal.

Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, had this to say about his Live Nation deal: “I’ve turned into the Rolling Stones of hip-hop.”
