Worst American Idol Performance on 4-08-08
Carly Smithson and David Cook were the worst two performers on last night’s show. That was an exact reversal from the week before, but winning Idol is a marathon. You have to be consistent every week or you get voted off.
American Idol Predictions April 9 - Guys
In Danger: David Cook
Jason Castro did “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” on his ukelele and wowed the judges. Michael Johns did alright with “Dream On” and David Archuleta was impressive as always.
Best Performances This Week: Jason Castro, David Archuleta
David Cook had his first bad week and seemed to be going for too much of the cocky rock star attitude look. Maybe it was just the goofy white jacket with all the pockets, but he definitely gave off the wrong vibe.
David Cook should still have enough fan base carryover votes to hang in there and still make the Top 5.
American Idol Favorites - Guys: David Archuleta has massive support from the all-important voting block of teenage girls.
American Idol Predictions 4-01-08 - Girls
In Danger: Carly Smithson, Syesha Mercado
Carly Smithson might have finally ended her run on Idol with her performance with her weak performance of “The Show Must Go On”.
Kristy Lee Cook has learned that the “country” vote that carried Carrie Underwood to the title is a safe place for her, so she stuck with that niche and should be safe even though she’s the weakest performer in the Top 8.
Syesha Mercado did a good job and showed a lot of range, but she’s never had a truly “amazing” performance on Idol, so her overall fan base is pretty weak.
Brook White was pretty awful with a dull, uninspired version of “You’ve Got A Friend”, but she has the most fans overall among the female contestants. Brooke should be in the bottom 3 instead of Syesha, but she’s got more true fans.
Best Performance This Week: Kristy Lee Cook
American Idol Favorites - Girls: Brooke White is very consistent and does a great job every week, except for last night. Carly Smithson has the pipes, but her visual appeal is low due to that horrific tattoo and her song choice was awful.
American Idol Predictions - Bottom Three for April 9
Well, my prediction of Ramiele Mulabay finally getting voted off was right last week. So, who is voted off American Idol among the Top 8 contestants?
With fewer choices left, it’s all about the size of the fan base that each contest has built plus how many new votes they can pick up from contestants voted off.
Among the Top 8, these three contestants are in the bottom 3:
- Carly Smithson
- Syesha Mercado
- David Cook
David Cook will escape and might even have enough carryover votes to push Michael Johns into the bottom three. Syesha did a much better job this week than Carly did, but overall carly has had the stronger run. It all boils down to who inspires their fans to actually pick up their phones and vote.

Wow! Didn’t see the Michael Johns voted off thing coming at all. He’s been really solid and never in the bottom three before, then he’s gone.
Had both Syesha and Carly right in the bottom three though.
And obviously was totally wrong about David Cook being in the bottom three too.
My psychic connection must have gotten him confused with Michael Johns…lol!
