With the Sarah Palin on SNL appearance, Republicans were trying to counter the damage done by Tina Fey’s spot-on parody of Alaska’s hottest governor.
Instead, they got more of the same. In the opening sketch, the vice presidential candidate watched Fey hold a faux press conference, as she chatted with SNL’s creator Lorne Michaels backstage.
Alec Baldwin approached Michaels during the conversation, mistaking Palin for Fey, pleading to not let Fey appear on stage with “that horrible woman.”
Later in the show during SNL’s news spoof “Weekend Update,” Sarah Palin appeared at the anchor desk to perform a rap song addressing misconceptions about her, but changes her mind – saying the routine is too inappropriate.
Amy Poehler jumps in to perform the SNL “Palin Rap”, with the governor dancing by her side at times throwing her arms in the air.
