American Idol Changes – Changes are coming to American Idol for Season 8, including wild card finalists picked by the show’s judges and less airtime for those memorably bad auditions.

The other big American Idol Season 8 change is the addition of a fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi, as a long-term replacement for the ever wacky Paula Abdul.

Fox’s hit talent contest will open its eighth season with a two-night, four-hour premiere on Jan. 13-14 from 8-10 p.m. EST, the network said Monday.

American Idol will change the number of weeks featuring nationwide tryouts from four weeks to three and will select three dozen contestants from the Hollywood round to compete, versus the two dozen of past seasons, Fox says.
And that’s the latest on the Season 8 American Idol changes.
