RevengeOnCam.com is another site being promoted by fake MySpace bulletins, usually saying something like “Is this u on revengeoncam.com?” or something similar. You think it’s real because the MySpace bulletin came from a friend and you’re curious, so you go to RevengeOn Cam to check it out. Big mistake!

You see, RevengeOnCam is the twelfth phishing website in two weeks to plague MySpace users. They want you to login at their site with your email address and password. Then, they instantly login into your MySpace account and send the fake bulletin to all your friends. It’s viral marketing at it’s worst, but wait, there’s more!

These phishing sites not only sell your email address and password to spammers, they also inject a trojan onto your PC when you login. That virus in turn downloads more malware that infects your computer with popup ads and scans your hard drive for credit card numbers, social security numbers, online banking informatione, etc.

MySpace has gotten aggressive and complained to the domain registrar for many of these domains. GoDaddy has parked several of them, but several others are still “owned” by the spammers, and many others are registered at other domain registration services.

RevengeOnCam.com was registered on August 24th and it never had a website that could actually be spidered by the search engines, so you can’t find anything about it in Google, Yahoo, or MSN searches. The site existed only as an “iframe” view of the master website behind all these phishing sites.

And, that master phishing website behind all these sites is still scamming people. No action has been taken against coolstuff2see.com which is the real culprit here. Everything else is just a fake front end for this master phishing site.

Here’s a screenshot of the seemingly innocent domain:

CoolStuff2See.com blank website
Looks like there’s nothing there right?

Here’s where all the phishing sites are really hosted:

coolstuff2see.com/skanks/register.html phishing site
Notice the URL being used is from a folder called “skanks” on coolstuff2see.com.
http://www.coolstuff2see.com/skanks/register.html is the master phishing website location, so these fake MySpace bulletins will continue to plague unsuspecting MySpace users until this site is shut down.

Here’s a list of the phishing sites and their current status:

  1. celeblookalikesite.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  2. celeblookalikeonline.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  3. coolyoungpeople.com - displays paid search results from new.net
  4. happyyoungpeople.com - still “owned” - displays hijacked blog
  5. hotyoungpeople - domain parked by Godaddy
  6. shockingrevelation.com - domain parked with sedoparking.com
  7. bestthisway.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  8. bestubelieve.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  9. amusementpeople.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  10. explainthese.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  11. explainthis.com - domain parked by GoDaddy
  12. revengeoncam.com - DNS redirected an hour ago (offline)

These sites have fooled a lot of people because it grabs your MySpace profile pic when you click the link, so you think it’s really got a profile of you. If you entered your email and password on any of these sites, then change your password.

Then do a virus scan and check your PC for spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy (it’s free). You should also at least be using a free personal firewall like ZoneAlarm to add an additional layer of protection to your computer. You can find links to these free tools at http://www.spamvirushelp.com.

Tell your friends you got the bulletin from to change their password too because these guys will keep using their MySpace login to send more spam bulletins. If not, your profile and theirs could get deleted for spamming other users.

And now you know why to avoid sites like RevengeOnCamera.com.
